In today’s market, there’s a big need for one-offs and short runs. The VersaStudio BN-20 was developed to provide custom print/cut jobs on demand without a large investment in equipment. With its desktop footprint and economical price, it is – dollar for dollar – one of the strongest profit centres available!
State of the art Print Head technology
The VersaStudio utilises the same advanced print technology as Roland’s VersaCAMM VS series. The new piezo inkjet head prints up to 1440 dpi using variable droplet technology with seven precise droplet sizes to optimise image quality. Roland Intelligent Pass Control™ Technology delivers exceptional quality prints with smoother gradations, richer density and deeper image saturation for photographic and vector output. Best of all, the print technology is built to last. The gold-plated head reduces static, preventing clogging, and a patent-pending wiper system decreases wear and tear on the print head and prolongs its life by reducing buildup.
Choose your ink system
The BN-20 offers a choice of three different ink configurations. Four-colour (CMYK) is the best choice for standard process colour inkjet printing. ECO-SOL MAX™ offers fast drying time, high density, wide colour gamut, rugged scratch resistance, low cost per square metre and broad uncoated media support. ECO-SOL MAX™ is virtually odourless, and graphics are water and UV resistant up to three years outdoors** without lamination. ** CMYK only
The five colour inkset — combining metallic silver ink with CMYK — is the premier choice for versatility and market competitiveness. This allows you to add value and sophistication to virtually any graphic on a wide range of media, including clear vinyl and films, fine art paper, canvas, and photobase paper. Metallic Silver Eco-SOL MAX ink — recognised as DPI Product of the Year — can be printed as a spot colour, or combined with CMYK to produce over 500 striking metallic and pearlescent colours. The new Metallic Texture Library adds 26 different texture fills as well.
A third configuration, CMYK aqueous ink, is also available for the BN-20. This high-density water-based ink creates brilliant colours and excellent print quality, for short-term indoor applications. The ink configuration must be selected at the time of install. It is not possible to change the ink configuration after a selection has been made and the printer has been inked up.
Advanced Media Handling System
The BN-20 is equipped with a new simplified media feed system that automatically aligns roll media in the printer. This intuitive system detects and adjusts the pinch roll wheels to the width of the installed media, ensuring proper placement and tracking. The BN-20 supports roll media from 150 to 515 mm in width, weighing up to 6 kg.
Optional Stand available
The BN-20 is perfect for use on a desktop but an optional stand is also available for those with limited desktop space or who wish to have the unit freestanding. The small footprint of the stand ensures the machine takes up no more room than it would on a bench.
Roland Versaworks Rip included
The VersaStudio takes full advantage of Roland Versaworks Version 4. This true Adobe PostScript 3 RIP is designed by Roland to ensure exceptional production output with unmatched ease of use and uses the latest Adobe CPSI 3018 engine. VersaWorks uses Roland Intelligent Pass Control to optimize the output quality on the BN-20 and estimates the ink usage and print time for each graphic produced. The Roland Colour System accurately reproduces spot colours from Roland Colour charts and swatch books.
The Roland Metallic Colour library in VersaWorks features 512 metallic colours that print using CMYK+Mt in a single pass. This palette includes silver, gold, bronze and other metallic colours. Users can also easily create and save their own custom metallic spot colours in Roland VersaWorks RIP software. VersaWorks can control up to four Roland devices including printers, printer/cutters and cutters .
